Course description

Do you have a visual material in your dissertation that you need to analyse? The course participants' own visual material is the starting point for this course, which deals with different methods for image analysis and their methodological foundations. Critical theories that can form the basis for a scientifically sound investigation and interpretation of different types of images are discussed. These can be, for example, art images, scientific illustrations, advertising images or press images. The course is aimed at doctoral students with or without prior knowledge of art and visual methods and theories.

The form of teaching is seminars. The course is presented in the form of seminar discussions and written assignments.

Admission to the course requires that the student has been admitted to a third-cycle programme.

3. Doctoral students at other universities.

Other information

This course is also a second-cycle course (KV5010) and PhD students and master students will study together.
